Riverside Mortuary in Albuquerque was very professional and I hear the mortuaries in Gallup are professional as well. Do yourself a favor and make the trip. Avoid Compassion Mortuary at all cost.

Worst place ever my mom has been there over 9 days it started at $1500 max for everything Now the total went to over $3000.00 all lies and a bunch of shadyness they are the only mortuary in grants so feel more than ok charging for everything $500.00 for a 30 min viewing with dirty sheets and 200.00 for flower display that my family put up by the way plus cleaning fee for the deceased that my family traditional ceremonies say we do and did totaling over $3000.00 not for anyone go out if town in this hard time my mom took my soul they took the rest the owner was not going to release my moms body for cremation for $0.34 and when I asked if I could say my final goodbye he snickered at me and said the smell would disgust you then smirked and said plus it's already boxed up.

My Mom went in today to purchase an Urn for my fathers ashes and the man there asked who had passed and what company was doing the cremation.

In a time of grief I would expect a little compassion. Instead a bigot with a superiority complex is what was received. My wife of 20 years had her mother pass away and had to return to New Mexico and help her family deal with the passing. The small minded bigot that my wife had to deal with long with her family should never have happened. A rude opinionated man trying to play Sherlock Holmes giving opinions about the death and later the death certificate is just to much. This guy should be fired and nobody should ever need to deal with this man ever again. Please note I could have used an alias to post but I did not. After what my wife went through I hope and pray that I meet this man in person.

This man tried to take advantage of my family!! Picked up a body for the Medical Examiner and tried to charge my family $600.00 dollars for services that he billed the medical examiner for and then charge my family for the same services. Thank goodness we contacted an honest funeral home in Albuquerque that told use he was trying to take advantage of us... What a scumbag

We had gotten the cremation done in Albuquerque because that's where my dad passed away. When my mom told him this he said he would not sell her an Urn because she did not use his services and was very rude about it.

They need to change the name to lack of compassion mortuary. I posted this story on Facebook and many people came forward with even worse stories of treatment by this man. This is not how you treat any customers but especially people in this particular situation.

My family and I have recently used Compassion Mortuary for my nephew's funeral service. The mortuary stands by their slogan, "The funeral home with a heart." During our time of grief and sorrow, a very compassionate young Navajo man offered us great service. He was very kind, very understandable and knowledgeable regarding our traditional values. He was very directive and informable. Overall, he was a very kind hearted individual that offered us great service. The pricing was quite affordable compared to the mortuaries in Gallup and in the Arizona area. We are very glad we chose Compassion Mortuary.
